AEP Athlete Captures Silver

Lethbridge – Alberta Sport Development Centre Southwest (ASDC SW) congratulates Naman Gauri on capturing a silver medal at the 2019 Canadian Junior Racquetball Championships in Valleyfield, Quebec.

Gauri placed second in the boys 16 and under singles division with decisive round robin wins then losing in a tie-breaker in his final match of the day. Gauri will now represent Canada at the Junior World Championships this November in Costa Rica.

Gauri has been training with ASDC SW Athlete Enhancement Program (AEP) and sport vision training program. For more information on programs and services offered by ASDC SW, visit asdcsw.ca.

2019 Canada Winter Games Experience

Lethbridge - Alberta Sport Connection (ASC) and Alberta Sport Development Centre (ASDC) regional centres are looking to send up and coming athletes to experience the Canada Winter Games, February 15 to March 3 in Red Deer.

The Canada Winter Games are the largest multi-sport and cultural event in the nation with close to 3,600 athletes, managers and coaches and more than 100,000 spectators. Selected athletes will have a front row seat to watch Canada's best up and coming athletes and cheer on Team Alberta in hockey, archery, badminton, biathlon, boxing, skiing, judo, wheelchair basketball and more.

The 2019 Canada Winter Games includes the 52° North Music + Cultural Festival presented by ATB and ATCO that will feature Juno and Canadian Country Music Association award winners through out the two-week competition. Performers include, Bif Naked, Gord Bramford, Kim Mitchell, K-OS, The Strumbellas and more.

Athletes and coaches will be required to submit a letter to the ASDC SW selection committee describing why they should be selected for the experience. The selected individual will receive $800 for cost of travel, accommodations, meals, gear and sport venue tickets and will be required to send photos or videos of their experience.
