Marc Bomhof, PhD, RD

Marc is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Lethbridge where he teaches Exercise Physiology and Sport Nutrition. Marc graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. in Nutrition and Food Science and completed a dietetic internship with Alberta Health Services. After working for a short period as a clinical dietitian, Marc moved to Calgary and completed his PhD in Nutrition and Metabolism where his research focused on the impact of prebiotics and probiotics on gut microbiota and health. Marc started his position at the University of Lethbridge in 2016 and currently conducts research looking at the impact of physical activity and dietary nutrients on the biological systems that regulate appetite and energy intake.

Marc raced for the Alberta Provincial road cycling team and represented Canada at the World Junior Road Cycling Championships. His cycling pursuits took him to France where he competed with an elite-level amateur French cycling team. These experiences fostered an interest in the role of nutrition for improvement of sport performance and health.
